These terms and conditions (Terms) set out the terms on which we allow admission to customers (Customer, you or your) to The Royal Mint Experience.

You will not be able to use the services under these Terms if you are a resident of a restricted country or region listed here.

You should read these Terms carefully as they will form part of a legally binding contract between you and The Royal Mint Limited, that will govern your visit to The Royal Mint Experience. These Terms apply to the exclusion of any other terms, conditions or contract provided by you.

You are also bound, where appropriate, by the other terms and conditions on our site, including our Website Terms of Use.

We will only use your personal information as set out in our Privacy Policy.

  1. Information about us

    1. The Royal Mint is operated by RM Experience Limited (incorporated and registered in England and Wales with company number 10953110 whose registered office is at Llantrisant, Pontyclun, Mid Glamorgan, South Wales, United Kingdom, CF72 8YT) (the Operator, we, us and our).
    2. The Operator operates The Royal Mint Experience on behalf of The Royal Mint Limited (TRM), a government owned company, registered in England and Wales under company number 06964873, with our registered office at Llantrisant, Pontyclun, CF72 8YT, United Kingdom, and our VAT registration number is GB 256 5227 96.
    3. Please note that this contract exists between you and TRM.

  2. Your visit – general rules and procedure

    1. All persons wishing to take a tour or visit our exhibition must be in possession of a valid ticket prior to entry. Tickets must be retained at all times and submitted for inspection if required by any employee or agent of the Operator.
    2. Ticket prices may vary depending on the booking method used. Ticket prices may also fluctuate during peak demand.
    3. Some (but not all) types of tickets are available for purchase online through TRM’s website (https://www.royalmint.com/the-royal-mint-experience/). For the avoidance of doubt, such tickets and products are available in limited quantities and each purchase will be subject to availability.
    4. Payments for tickets are non-refundable and tickets may only be changed or replaced at the absolute discretion of the Operator. No ticket may be resold.
    5. Ticket holders must arrive at The Royal Mint Experience at least fifteen minutes before the time printed on the ticket.
    6. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult, aged 18 years or over, at all times whilst at The Royal Mint Experience.
    7. Carer tickets are available, free of charge, for guests accompanying a person with a registered disability. Proof of carer status will be required on arrival. This can include:
      1. Attendance Allowance or Carer's Allowance letter of award.
      2. Credibility’s Access Card with the carer/companion symbol.
      3. GP Letter showing you’ve registered as a carer.
      4. Carer’s ID card.
      5. A valid blue badge.
      6. In the case of visual impairment, a registration card known as the BD8 or a Certificate of Visual Impairment (CVI).
      7. Entitlement to Disability Living Allowance for children under 16 or DLA/Personal Independent Payments (PIP) for those aged 16-64, either in the form of a letter stating that the benefit has been awarded, or the actual Allowance book.
      8. Incapacity Benefit books, or a letter stating the benefit has been awarded Incapacity Benefit, Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) Disability Students’ Allowance (DSA), or DID card (UK Disabled ID card).
    8. The Operator reserves the right, in its absolute discretion, to refuse entry to any person into, or remove any person from, The Royal Mint Experience. . In its absolute discretion, The Royal Mint Experience may offer to exchange your ticket. For the avoidance of any doubt, pre-booked tickets are none-refundable in the event that that admission is refused or relinquished for any reason referred to in these Terms and Conditions.
    9. The Operator reserves the right to limit the number of tours per visitor and the number of transactions per visitor in The Royal Mint Experience gift shop. These limits may change from time to time, and such limits are decided at the absolute discretion of the Operator. For example, in busy periods the Operator may choose to limit tours to one tour per visitor per day.
    10. To prevent offensive weapons or dangerous articles from being taken into The Royal Mint Experience, all visitors are admitted subject to a condition that, if requested to do so, they will allow themselves and/or their belongings to be searched.
    11. Smoking is strictly prohibited within all areas of The Royal Mint Experience. (including e-cigarettes).
    12. Only food and beverages purchased at The Royal Mint Experience can be consumed at The Royal Mint Experience.
    13. Where a person has caused damage at The Royal Mint Experience he/she shall meet any costs and expenses arising.
    14. Pets or animals of any nature are expressly prohibited at The Royal Mint Experience, except for trained assistance dogs (in accordance with the Equality Act 2010). Assistance dogs must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless this interferes with their assistance tasks. Visitors are responsible for the conduct and clean-up of their assistance dogs. The Operator reserves the right to refuse or withdraw the right of entry if a dog’s behaviour poses a threat to safety or the visitor experience, or if the Operator considers that the dog in question is not a trained assistance dog. For the avoidance of doubt, animalsPets should not be left in any vehicle parked at the attraction. We reserve the right to contact any relevant authority to make and be responsible for any decision in relation to any animals that are left unsupervised or that are found to be in distress.
    15. The “Strike Your Own Coin” feature of The Royal Mint Experience is limited to two coins per visitor per tour (with one being struck by the customer, and the second being pre-struck by The Royal Mint earlier on the same day), with the exception of Mint Marque customers.
    16. Photography and/or video recording is not permitted in the factory experience.
    17. From time to time the Operator, TRM or other authorised parties may carry out photography and/or video recording and/or other monitoring on or in the vicinity of The Royal Mint Experience, which may feature visitors. By accepting these Terms, you agree that the Operator, TRM or any authorised party may use such images in perpetuity in any promotional, advertising or publicity material in any format whatsoever. You further agree that copyright in these materials rests with the Operator, TRM or such authorised party (as the case may be).
    18. From time to time The Royal Mint Experience may advertise and conduct promotions. The Operator reserves the right to alter the terms, and, withdraw such promotions, without notice.
    19. If a visitor wishes to return a product purchased in The Royal Mint Experience gift shop, the product must be returned to The Royal Mint Experience, unused and in its original condition with proof of purchase, within 30 calendar days beginning on the day the visitor purchased the product(s). The Operator will process the refund due to the visitor within 30 calendar days from when the products were returned to The Royal Mint Experience. Please note, nothing in these Terms restrict your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
    20. The Royal Mint Experience accepts no liability for items purchased from a third party seller during events or markets. Any defect or issues that arise from these items must be taken up with the retailer directly.
    21. Due to fire safety procedures, guests with mobility impairments must contact The Royal Mint Experience in advance to ensure no disruption to their visit at experience@royalmint.com.
    22. Vehicles are parked at the owners’s risk. We take no responsibility for damage caused to any vehicle using the car park and no guarantee is given as to the security of guests’ vehicles in the car park or any contents. No vehicles are permitted to remain in the car park outside the Aattraction’s normal operating hours without the prior express permission of The Royal Mint Security and Management. The Royal Mint retains absolute discretion as to whether such permission is granted. A breach of this condition will be deemed to be trespassing, the vehicle will be removed, and the owner shall be responsible for all consequences arising as a result of such removal.
    23. The consumption of intoxicating liquor is permitted only in authorised places within the attraction. Accordingly, intoxicating liquor may not be taken into the Aattraction except with the express permission of The Royal Mint and any persons found possessing alcohol, or who appear to be under the influence of alcohol may be refused admission and escorted from the attraction without any right to a refund. The use of illegal substances and/or legal highs (including, but not limited to, laughing gas) is strictly prohibited and any persons found possessing, using or who appear to be under the influence of illegal substances and/or legal highs will be refused admission and escorted from the attraction without any right to a refund.
    24. CCTV cameras are used to assist in the running of the attraction and for the safety of our staff. However, we do not make any representation as to the extent of coverage provided by the cameras. All items, belongings and other property brought into the attraction by guests are at their own risk and we accept no liability for any loss or damage to such property.
    25. The flying of drones and use of drones for photography is prohibited anywhere in the ground of The Royal Mint including The Royal Mint Experience and car parks.
  3. VIP Tours

    1. If you are attending a VIP tour, please review the pre-arrival information that will be sent prior to arrival at The Royal Mint Experience.
    2. The full price of VIP tours must be paid in full when placing the booking and is non-refundable
    3. Given the expansive nature of the areas covered during the VIP tours, it is essential to note that a significant amount of walking will be involved, along with the potential encounter of staircases within certain locations. To facilitate a seamless and accommodating experience tailored to your needs, we kindly request that any special assistance requirements be communicated to us at the time of booking. By doing so, we can meticulously assess and implement the necessary adjustments to enhance your overall visit.
    4. Please be advised that these exclusive tours are strictly available to individuals aged 18 years and over. Regrettably, any individual under the age of 18 will not be granted entry and will not be eligible for a refund.
    5. We enforce a strict closed toe footwear policy, wherein individuals without appropriate footwear will be denied access to the VIP tour experience. Please be advised that any guest arriving without closed toe footwear will not only be refused entry but also ineligible for refunds.
    6. We are delighted to inform you that as part of your exclusive VIP tour, you will have the unique opportunity to strike your very own gold or silver coin. (available at an additional cost on the day) During this special experience, you will be granted the privilege to inspect the product at the precise moment of its creation. It is our commitment to provide you with an unforgettable and engaging encounter.
    7. Please be advised that upon leaving the premises, the quality of the product, which you have personally overseen during its creation process, will be deemed acceptable. Kindly note that in accordance with our policies, no refunds shall be available once you depart from the minting facility.
    8. In extenuating circumstances where the operator must cancel or move your VIP tour, The Royal Mint Experience will not be liable for cancellation charges to any travel or accommodation costs.
  4. Group bookings

    1. Once you have placed your booking, a booking confirmation will be issued to the group leader. If you want to make any changes to your booking following receipt of the booking confirmation, please let the Operator know as soon as possible by emailing groups@royalmint.com. The Operator will make reasonable efforts to accommodate any changes but cannot guarantee all changes will be possible.
    2. The full price of group bookings must be paid at least 14 calendar days before the date of The Royal Mint Experience (subject to clause 3.56) unless otherwise agreed. In circumstances where you have placed a group booking and the date of The Royal Mint Experience falls within the 14-day window, you must pay in full when placing the booking.
    3. Where optional items or services are purchased as part of The Royal Mint Experience, for example catering services, the operator reserves the right to request these services are payable when the booking is placed. Please note, the purchase of any optional items or services may not be refundable in the event of cancellation of The Royal Mint Experience
    4. Where you are delayed, please contact The Royal Mint Experience on 0800 032 2154 as soon as possible. In certain circumstances there may be a wait for the next available tour.
    5. If you would like to cancel The Royal Mint Experience, the group leader must notify the Operator in writing by emailing groups@royalmint.com. Please be aware that you may only be eligible for a partial refund, or, in some cases, no refund at all, as follows:
    6. Cancellation Policy – Groupd

      If you cancel your Experience more than 14 calendar days before your booking

      You will not be liable for any costs.

      If you cancel your Experience 7 to 13 calendar days (inclusive) prior to your booking

      You will be liable for 50% of the total price of the Experience.

      If you cancel your Experience less than 7 calendar days prior to your booking

      You will be liable for 100% of the total price of the Experience. 

    7. If the Operator makes an insignificant change to your booking, the Operator will use its reasonable endeavours to inform you of the change prior to The Royal Mint Experience. Insignificant changes include, but are not limited to:
      1. alteration of your tour time by less than 1 hour;
      2. changes to tour route; and
      3. change of meal to another of the same or higher standard (unless there are specific dietary requirements).
    8. Occasionally the Operator may have to make a significant change to your booking, the Operator will inform you of the change as soon as possible. Examples of significant changes include but are not limited to:
      1. change of date;
      2. change of time by more than 1 hour; or
      3. change of pre-booked meal where the Operator cannot accommodate specific dietary requirements.
    9. The Operator reserves the right to cancel your booking for The Royal Mint Experience where you have not complied with the payment terms as specified in clause 4 or in the circumstances listed in clause 5.1.
  5. Private Event Bookings (including Corporate Hire)

    1. Many areas of The Royal Mint Experience are available for venue hire, including corporate hire, birthday parties and special occasions (Event Booking).
    2. Any personally identifiable data the Operator collects about you in the Event Booking process will be treated by the Operator in accordance with the privacy policy which can be found here.
    3. From time to time the Operator, at its complete discretion, may request a non-refundable deposit. The timing and amount of such deposit will be communicated to you in writing.
    4. An Event Booking will remain provisional, and will only be confirmed once the Operator has received payment
    5. The Operator must receive full payment at least 14 calendar days prior to the date of the event.
    6. In circumstances where full payment is not received at least 14 calendar days prior to the event, the Operator reserves the right to cancel the Event Booking.
    7. If you wish to amend or alter your Event Booking, please contact The Royal Mint Experience Reservations Team at experience@royalmint.com as soon as possible. The Operator will make reasonable efforts to accommodate any changes but cannot guarantee all changes will be possible.
    8. If you would like to cancel your Event Booking, you must notify the Operator in writing by emailing experience@royalmint.com. Please be aware that you may only be eligible for a partial refund, or, in some cases, no refund at all (in cases where you have paid a deposit, this will be non-refundable regardless of when you cancel the booking) as follows:
    9. Cancelation Policy – Corporate Hire & Private Events

      If you cancel your event more than 14 calendar days before your booking

      You will receive a full refund except for the non-refundable deposit.

      If you cancel your event 7 to 13 calendar days (inclusive) prior to your booking

      You will be liable for 50% of the total price of the event.

      If you cancel your event less than 7 calendar days prior to your booking

      You will be liable for 100% of the total price of the event. 

    10. The Operator reserves the right to withdraw your provisional booking or cancel your Event Booking where you have not complied with the payment terms as specified in these Terms or in the circumstances listed in clause 5.
  6. General
    1. The Operator will use its reasonable endeavours to ensure that The Royal Mint Experience is open for use by visitors during normal opening hours. However, the Operator reserves the right, in its absolute discretion, whether for safety reasons, mechanical breakdown or otherwise, and with or without prior notice, to close The Royal Mint Experience or any part of it. In the event of such closure, the Operator will refund any visitor whose booking is cancelled, the cost of his or her prepaid ticket, but otherwise shall have no liability whatsoever, including no liability for travel expenses or any other out of pocket expenses, in
    2. Other than liability for death or personal injury resulting from the Operator’s negligence or that of the Operator, TRM and their employees or agents shall not be liable for any loss or damage, direct or indirect, howsoever arising, including without limitation out of or in connection with the natural and inherent ageing, tarnishing discolouring and/or toning of the products following purchase, or any distress, inconvenience or anxiety caused during the course of any visit undertaken and/or during evacuation from The Royal Mint Experience.
    3. We will have no liability to you under these Terms if we are prevented from, or delayed in, performing our obligations under these terms by anything outside our reasonable control including, but not limited to, strikes, lock-outs or other industrial action, civil commotion, riot, invasion, terrorist attack or threat of terrorist attack, war (whether declared or not) or threat or preparation for war, fire, explosion, storm, flood, earthquake, subsidence, epidemic, pandemic or other natural disaster, impossibility of the use of railways, shipping, aircraft, motor transport or other means of public or private transport, impossibility of the use of public or private telecommunications networks or the acts, decrees, legislation, regulations
    4. You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another organisation, but this will not affect your rights or our obligations under these Terms.
    5. Failure or delay by us in enforcing or partially enforcing any provision of these Terms shall not be construed as a waiver of our rights under the Terms.
    6. If any provision of these Terms is found by any court or administrative body of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, unenforceable or illegal, the other provisions shall remain in force.
    7. These Terms, along with any relevant other terms and conditions on our site which are applicable to you, represent the entire agreement between you and us in relation to the subject matter of any contract arising from these Terms.
    8. A person who is not a party to the contract between you and us shall not have any rights under or in connection with it by virtue of the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999, save that if TRM’s legal status as a government owned company changes, any rights we have may be assigned by us automatically to any successor body without restriction and any such successor body may exercise rights under these Terms as if it was a party to it.
    9. We have the right to revise and amend these Terms from time to time by posting revised Terms on the website. The revised Terms will apply in respect of any order for products or any other service made 24 hours or more after we have posted them on our website. If you do not agree to our revised Terms as posted on our website, please do not order products or services from us.
    10. These Terms and the contract between us will be governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from, or related to, these terms or our contract shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
